ALPACA TEDDY BEARS INFO

Our Alpaca Teddy Bears are knit by hand in rural
Peruvian communities working as cooperatives.
The hand-spun yarn is made predominantly of
non-dyed, natural alpaca fibres.

We don't use alpaca fur since we don't believe that
is a sustainable practice, and in fact, using white
alpaca fur may contribute to the speedy extinction
of the coloured alpaca.
 
Our Alpaca Teddy Bears are:
 
Environmentally friendly
Fist of all, the alpaca is perfectly adapted to its
ecosystem in the Andes. Unlike sheep and goats,
alpacas have special toenails that don't contribute
to ground erosion; they also have teeth that cut the
grass without ripping out its roots.
 
Organic
The yarn comes from alpacas that graze at an
altitude of up to 5,200 meters in areas untouched
by industrial agricultural and therefore free of
toxic chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
 
Natural Coloured
Our Teddy Bears are knit primarily in natural
colours: white, grey, beige, black, brown, and
shades in between.
 
Lanolin-free
Lanolin is a type of fat present in wool that is
associated with several allergies. Alpaca fibre is
lanolin-free, so it is suitable for children and people
with sensitive skin.
 
Extremely soft
Since the alpaca yarn has been manually spun and
the stuffed animals have been hand knit,
the outstanding softness of the alpaca fibre is
preserved in the final product.
 
One-of-a-kind
The artisans are not machines, so it is impossible to
make two identical Teddies...so each one is unique!
